Its been awhile sense I made this, but looking at the recipe, which includes brown sugar and honey, I don't know how it could not have a sweet taste. Anyway sorry it didn't come out for you.

Just tried this recipe for my husband and I. Must say it was incredible!! I didn't have cornstarch so I substituted flour, I know it's not the same but it saved me a trip to the grocery store today! The chicken was still so moist and better than when you get it at the restaurant because it didn't have so much added breading. I can't stop thinking about how yummy it was and I even tweeted about it and included a link to your site! Hope you don't mind and thanks again!!

* Shila I made fried rice along with this meal - my ingredients were carrots, onion, green peppers, soy sauce, shrimp, egg, and chicken stock. The added green onions as a garnish. Try playing around with that if it sounds appealing to you at all. It suited us well!

Tonight will be my second time making this (I have a picture from the first if you want!) and it was delicious! I'm going to make a few changes tonight. First I accidentally added too much sesame oil (didn't taste bad
Though) and I forgot the ginger. Also I added some hoisin sauce to the sauce and it made it taste like my local favorite, only much cheaper! This was my very first attempt at making Chinese food and following someone else's recipe (I don't usually measure, it's a downfall of mine) and I have to say I was patting myself on the back all night long! Do you happen to have a good fried rice recipe? I keep trying to recreate one that has bean sprouts, green onion , and jasmine rice but it just never gets the flavor correct :/

Thank you so much for this recipe! I am going to keep making it, it's more delicious than the over priced Chinese out here, cheap and so fun to make!!! I didnt have any faith in my Chinese cooking until I tried this out, I am so excited!

Hello, we tried this recipe and we liked it a lot! The taste is delicious with the sweet honey and the savory soy sauce, a perfect combination.
We had rice like you suggested and made sure it's light and plain as the chicken occupied all the room for flavour.
Couldn't use sherry because we don't drink alcohol but substituted it for a bit of apple cider vinegar & jellab (a syrup made of grape molasses, pulp of raisins, rose water and sugar).
PS: *whispers* woke up at 2AM and had some of this sesame chicken as a midnight snack :)

The Soy sauce has a tendency to do that- depending on your taste-maybe try the lite next time you make this. It might lighten it up a little bit.
Thanks for the feed back.

I just made this for dinner. It was delicious, but really salty. I followed all the measurements and directions except for the sherry wine. Is it supposed to be really salty?

Hi there! I came across your recipe on Foodgawker! I'm excited to try it tomorrow night. And then hopefully, Tweet all about how good it is! I'm wondering though ... do you use toasted sesame oil, or untoasted? I have both and tend to like the toasted, but don't know which to use. Thanks for the recipe!
