This Hamburger Steak with Gravy Recipe is quick to put together and doesn’t require many ingredients. There are many versions of this recipe on the internet. This one came from my son’s blog at blogchef.net; he said it was really good so I thought I would give it a try.

The gravy is delicious so I decided to serve the recipe with garlic mashed potatoes; you can find the recipe Here.

This is a recipe the family will love; it cooks quickly – making this a great recipe for after work or school.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • ½ cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Ingredients for Gravy
  • 2 onions (cut in half and then sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl using your hands mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, dry mustard, 1 teaspoon beef bouillon, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Divide burger into 8 patties of equal size.
  2. In a large skillet with high sides cook the burger over medium high heat using the oil until nicely browned; set aside on a platter.
  3. In the same skillet cook the onion for several minutes until soft, add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Stir in the flour and cook until flour starts to brown (stirring constantly). Mix in the beef broth, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon beef bouillon, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Continue cooking until mixture starts to thicken.
  4. Work the patties into the gravy, cover, reduce heat to simmer and continue cooking until burgers are done (165F). Add additional beef broth if mixture gets to thick.

I needed a simple recipe-something that would be quick and easy. There is just too much going on this week and I had to save some time; this Stroganoff-Style Chicken Recipe was it. This recipe has very little prep and cooking time. Give yourself a half hour and dinner will be on the table. I used fresh baby portabella mushrooms; but I am sure canned would work fine. I just have a family that loves fresh mushrooms. If you find yourself crunched for time give this Stroganoff-Style Chicken Recipe a try; you’ll have a delicious supper in 30 minutes.

Stroganoff-Style Chicken Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1¼ pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into strips
  • 8 oz package of fresh sliced mushrooms (or 1 large can)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about ½ cup)
  • 1 can (10¾ ounces) Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 6 oz cup plain nonfat yogurt
  • Paprika
  • ½ of a 12-ounce package medium egg noodles (about 4 cups), cooked and drained
Instructions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until well browned, stirring often. Remove the chicken from the skillet.
  2. Heat the remaining oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and onion and cook until tender.
  3. Stir in the soup, yogurt, and water in the skillet and heat to a boil. Return the chicken to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low. Cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Sprinkle with the paprika, if desired.
  4. Serve the chicken and sauce with the noodles.

 

Chicken Parmesan Recipe

There are many simple recipes out their for Chicken Parmesan, and some not so simple. I have found the simple usually taste great and this recipe is one of them. This Chicken Parmesan Recipe requires very little prep, or cooking time, resulting in a great tasting supper.

Ingredients
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup Italian Bread Crumbs
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 4 teaspoons butter or oil
  • 8 0z package shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 Cups spaghetti sauce
Instructions
  1. Pound the chicken breasts to flatten.
  2. Dip the chicken in egg then roll in the breadcrumbs.
  3. Brown the coated chicken in the oil or butter for 10 to 15 minutes or until done.
  4. Pour half the spaghetti sauce into a 9 x 5 casserole dish or baking pan.
  5. Place the chicken breasts into the baking dish and sprinkle on the cheese.
  6. Add the rest of the spaghetti sauce and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
