Ingredients
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses (do not use blackstrap)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 6 slices bacon (cut into ½ inch pieces)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed and minced)
  • 1 can pinto beans (rinsed)
  • 1 can navy beans (rinsed)
  • 8 hot dogs (cut into ½ inch lengths)
Instructions
  1. Place beans and hot dogs in the slow cooker.
  2. Cook bacon, onion, and garlic in a large skillet over medium high heat until onion starts to brown and place mixture in the slow cooker.
  3. In a sauce pan mix together the chicken broth, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, vinegar, hot sauce, chili powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. Bring mixture to a boil and add the sauce mixture to the slow cooker; mix to combine.
  4. Slow cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6.

This is another simple, quick and good recipe. In less than an hour you can have this Simple Stove top Italian Macaroni dinner on the table. Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (28 ounces)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper or to taste
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
  1. In a large kettle or Dutch oven break up and cook ground beef until no longer pink inside. Drain if needed.
  2. Add the tomatoes to the meat and stir in the water, elbow macaroni, Italian seasoning, onion soup mix, and red pepper flakes. Bring mixture to a boil and reduce heat to a high simmer. Cook covered, stirring occasionally, until macaroni is tender. Off heat; Stir in the shredded Parmesan and top with the Mozzarella cheese. Cover and let rest until cheese is melted. (I sprinkled the Mozzarella cheese on each dish as I served it.)

After his recommendation I decided on this Sour Cream Noodle Bake Recipe. This is a simple recipe that you can have on the dinner table in less than an hour; making it a great recipe for after work or school.

Ingredients
  • 1¼ pounds ground chuck
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounce)
  • salt and pepper
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1¼ cup small curd cottage cheese
  • ½ cup sliced green onions
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven 350F.
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions to al dente.
  3. While the noodles are cooking in a large skillet brown the ground beef until no longer pink inside. Drain if necessary. Mix the tomato sauce into the skillet with the ground beef, and salt and pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to a simmer and continue cooking while putting together the cottage cheese mixture.

  6. In a large bowl mix together the egg noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese and green onions.

  10. Using a 9 x 13 casserole dish lightly sprayed with cooking spray spread 1/ 2 the noodle mixture on the bottom, and then layer ½ of the meat mixture over the top; and then sprinkle with ½ the cheese. Repeat the process finishing off with the cheese on the top.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  12. Serve hot with fresh biscuits or garlic toast.
