Simple Hamburger Pie Recipe with Garlic Mashed Potatoes

I seem to be on a role this week for very simple recipes. This Simple Hamburger Pie Recipe with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Is another one of those simple, but good tasting recipes. Again there is plenty of room for improvement, but is very good just like it is. So to stick with the basic theme of the recipe; I prepared the recipe as written.

I think this Hamburger Pie Recipe is very close to a Sheppard’s Pie except with fewer ingredients. The most time consuming part of the recipe, is having to prepare the mashed potatoes. However that Is not really a big thing because you can use that time to brown the burger and onion. Once it is all put together it bakes for only about 20 minutes, and is ready to go on the table.

If you need a recipe that is a quick fix for after school or work give this Simple Hamburger Pie Recipe with Garlic Mashed Potatoes a try; it’s really good. Enjoy

  4. Gloria says:

I’ve made this for years, It is really good with broccoil or corn. For blood thinner patients use yellow squash or any non green vegetable that is not high in vitamin K.

  5. I used crumbled tofu instead of the beef.
    I was great.

  6. My mother got this recipe 60 years ago out of a magazine that was in the Indianapolis Sunday Star. It has been a family favorite all this time, we just keep
passing it down. It is so good.

  7. Soogee says:

Why not make it even more simple by just using the already packaged mashed potatoes. Idahoan or Ore-Ida makes a package mashed potato in lots of flavors and all you do is boil the water and add the potato flakes. They are quit tasty and would simplify the recipe a lot!! Works for me!!

  8. Deb says:

Thanks to all for sharing. Gives me many different twist on recipe. I have used rotels with chiles and manwich mix instead of tomato soup. Also English peas instead of green beans.

  9. Heather Hirtle says:

Actually , this has more ingredients than an average shepards pie. Looks interesting, but minus the green beans.

  10. Carolyn Labossiere says:

DO YOU COOK THE MEAT FIRST ?

  11. admin says:

    Yes – step 2

  12. Linda says:

I make a recipe similar to this with the ground beef etc.I don’t cook the meat ahead of time.Just put in bottom of casserole.Add the veg.Slice potatoes on top of meat mixture and poor the tin of tomato soup over the top of potatoes.Bake for about one hour at 350 to till potatoes are cooked through.Been making this for years. My boys called it hockey night casserole as it would be in the oven ready when we got home from practice.

  13. donna says:

Darla, garlic is in step 1 and egg in step 5

  14. admin says:

    This is correct.

  15. Ray says:

If using box potatoes, how many cups are there in five medium potatoes?

  16. admin says:

I cant help you with this one – I hardly ever use them.
