Pork has been a favorite in this family for ever so I decided to give this Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore Recipe a try. I had a lot going on during the day so the use of the slow cooker fit in pretty well. Most of the time when you prepare a recipe and are able to taste it before it is cooked, and it is good, it will even be better after it is cooked. Wow-the sauce was delicious even before it hit the slow cooker. I prepared this recipe as written, but used shredded Mozzarella cheese in place of sliced, for picture purposes.
Serve this Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore over pasta and you family will love it-enjoy.
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, sliced
4 boneless pork chops
1 (28 ounce) jar pasta sauce
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 green bell pepper (sliced into strips)
1 (8 ounce) package fresh mushrooms (sliced)
4 large cloves garlic (sliced)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 cup dry white wine
4 slices mozzarella cheese or shredded
1. In a large skillet, brown chops over medium high heat, and transfer to slow cooker.
2. In the same pan, cook onion in oil over medium heat until slightly browned. Stir in mushrooms and green pepper, garlic, and cook until these vegetables are tender crisp.
3. Mix in pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, and white wine. Season with Italian seasoning and basil, and pour over pork chops in slow cooker.
4. Cook on Low for 7 to 8 hours.
To serve, place on a dish of pasta, put cheese over each chop, and cover with sauce.
