  1. Tried for first time tonite and it exceeded my expectations…the fish was moist, tasty and great. THANK YOU!!!!!

  2. Just wondering if this could be baked? I can’t eat deep fried. Heart trouble! Thanks.

  3. Because this is cooked in a batter I don’t think it would work out very well.

  4. You might try frying in Peanut oil or slow skillet fry using extra virgin olive oil. Both are heart friendly.

Folks, some time ago I was an assistant manager at a LJS. Over the course of a couple of years I asked anyone that I thought knew the secret ingredients for the batter. Try all of the above but this time add a teaspoon of ground mustard and substitute regular water with carbonated water. NOT TONIC WATER

Also if you like ginger (I do) there is a product called Vernor’s Ginger Ale, NOT CANADA DRY, but Vernor’s give a semi-sweet ginger flavor to the fish.

  6. Why don’t you have a place where we can print these recipes? I get tired of hand writing the recipes, it would be so simple to just please put a print icon we can use.

  7. Sorry for the problem – we have a new theme and it is taking awhile to get everything right. That problem should now be taken care of and you should be able to print.
Thanks for your comment and patients.

Just tried it last night. Simple to fix. I let some of the batter drip off the fish, and loved the crispies .

Gonna try this real soon. I learned just today that LJS uses hoki fillets in their recipe.

  12. Love Hoki fish. Fresh and Easy market closed down. I am unaware of a local source. Will have to continue experimenting. Yay!!! Part of the kitchen adventure.
