I put this off for a long time; but I felt I really should have a Basic Tuna Casserole Recipe on my blog. This is a very simple recipe with very little added seasoning. The chips on the top help give it a little crunch. If you’re looking for something quick, and simple, and that is also very inexpensive, give this a try. Usually when I make this type of recipe I’ll skip the oven- just mix all of the ingredients together except for the chips and it has gone over pretty well; but if you like the cheese melted and the crunch of the chips on top give this Basic Tuna Casserole Recipe a try.
1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup frozen green peas
2 (6 ounce) cans tuna, drained
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 cup crushed plain potato chips
Preheat oven to 425F. (220C)
1. Cook noodles to al dente according to package instructions. Drain
2. In a large bowl mix the noodles, onion, 1 cup cheese, peas, tuna, soup and mushrooms. Transfer to a 9×13 inch baking dish, and top with potato chip crumbs and remaining 1 cup cheese.
3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheese is bubbly.
