It amazes me how much the supermarket charges for Chili seasoning mix. Don’t pay the price, make your own for a fraction of the cost.
Cooler weather closed in on us here so the whole family was in the mood for chili. This recipe is on the mild side if you follow the directions.
If you want to turn up the heat just add more cayenne pepper. This is a simple Crock Pot Chili recipe and makes a great supper on a cold day. Just store the extra seasoning for the next time you make Chili. Enjoy

Seasoning Mix

  • 4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Ingredients for Chili

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium onion- sliced
  • 1 (28 ounces) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounces) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans
  • 2 Tablespoons seasoning mix- or to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix together seasoning mix.
  2. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and drain.
  4. In Crock-Pot, add onion and 2 tablespoons of seasoning mix. add tomatoes, tomato sauce, and kidney beans.
  5. Stir together.
  6. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
