This is a simple Swedish Meatball Recipe that is great with mashed potatoes and gravy.  The onion soup mix and nutmeg give these meatballs a unique flavor and the gravy is delicious.

Swedish Meatball Recipe

Ingredients

For Meatballs

  • 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef or ( mixed 50/50 ground pork )
  • ¾ cups bread crumbs.
  • 1 egg beaten.,
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Sauce

  • 2 Tablespoons drippings from browning meatballs
  • 3 Tablespoons of flour
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup light cream

Instructions

  1. Mix and form meatballs- brown lightly in a skillet.
  2. Place meatballs in a casserole dish.
  3. For the sauce-bring the water to a boil and slowly add the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Pour over the meatballs and bake covered for 45 minutes at 350F degrees.
