Ingredients

For this recipe, I use some pretty basic staple ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:

Chicken broth: I recommend a good bone broth with many flavors. It will add a lot of flavor to the soup. And homemade is great to make often and keep on hand to use in recipes.

Chicken thighs without the skin and bones. They add flavor and are very tender. You could use chicken with bones, but you’d have to throw away the bones after cooking. You could also use chicken breasts instead of thighs, but they might be drier.

  • onions
  • garlic
  • celery
  • carrots
  • orzo pasta
  • bay leaves
  • Italian seasoning – this Italian seasoning gives such a great flavor to this soup
  • salt & fresh cracked pepper

Instructions

  1. Put the chopped carrots, celery, onion, garlic, orzo, and bay leaves into the Ninja Foodi’s cooking pot.
  2. Cut the chicken into pieces that are easy to eat and put them on top of the vegetables.
Add 1 1/2 cups of chicken or bone broth and two teaspoons salt.
  3. Set the pressure lid and ensure the valve is in the “seal” position. Select the pressure setting and set it to high.
  4. Set the timer for 2 minutes and press the start button to begin. It takes about 10 minutes for the pressure to build up.
  5. When the cooking is done under pressure, let the pressure come down for 10 minutes. And after 10 minutes, turn the vent release valve to “vent” to quickly let out any pressure that may still be inside. Then carefully take the top off.
  6. Please take out the bay leaves and throw them away.
  7. Set the Ninja Foodi to sear/sauté and turn the temperature up to high. Add the rest of the broth and let it simmer for just 5 minutes until everything is warm.
  8. You can use fresh herbs as a garnish if you want to, but you don’t have to.

The hardest part of this recipe is preparing the butternut squash, which is not hard at all if you follow these simple steps. I always tell people to cook the whole squash! This makes cutting and cleaning so much easier. Once you know how to do it, you won’t have to cut, clean, and cook anymore.

  • Put a trivet in the pot’s bottom. On top, put butternut squash.
  • PC 23 min + NR
  • Carefully take off. Let it cool down. When the squash is warm to the touch, take off the skin.
  • Cut it in half and remove the seeds.
  • Put the squash pieces back into the pot if you want to make soup. Turn the stove to saute and start at step 4 on the recipe card.

What Onions are Best for French Onion Soup?

Some people like to mix white, yellow, and red onions for a different taste. Remember that the thinner your slices are, the softer they’ll be, but that’s really up to you. You can cut it into thin slices or big chunks. You can use white, yellow, or red onions for French onion soup. But if you want to make it the traditional way, you will need 5–6 large yellow onions that have been peeled and cut thinly. Yellow onions are your friend when you’re sautéing onions to add flavor to the base of a dish (soup, tomato sauce, whatever). White onions can be used instead of yellow ones, especially when cooking.

Yes, you can. And that can help bring the water to a boil faster, but once it’s boiling, even with the lid on, it doesn’t get any hotter, so it doesn’t cook the potatoes any faster. The 800-watt precision heating element brings soups and sauces to a boil in minutes. It can also simmer sauces and melt chocolate or cheese for fondue. To make spa waters, craft cocktails, mixers, and other drinks, you can infuse flavors and open them up with the heat.

Conclusion

if you’re not hot and sweaty, you still lose fluids as you go about your day. Since most soups are liquid, they are a great way to stay hydrated and full at the same time. They strengthen your immune system. Soups can help you avoid getting sick and are also a great way to feel better when you are sick. Most ready-made soups have a lot of salt. It doesn’t matter if they come in a can, a box, or a restaurant. Even though that extra salt won’t make you gain fat, it can make you gain water weight.
